Firefighters continue to make good progress in building fireline along all edges of the fire. Helicopters are providing assistance with water drops throughout the day as needed. The northern portion of the fire is burning in beetle infested pine and contains a significant amount of snags and dead or dying trees.
The goal is to keep the fire north of FS Road 9381, west of Billy Johns Trail, east of Hells Canyon Creek and south of White Pipe Ridge.
The Hells Canyon fire is currently burning in grass and beetle infested pine. It has burned towards the north away from the Hells Canyon cabin. Firefighters are providing for firefighter and public safety in managing this fire.
