The Williams Pass Jeep Trail on the Gunnison National Forest spans between the Alpine Tunnel National Forest System Road #839 (NFSR) and the Continental Divide onto NFSR #295 on the San Isabel National Forest. The jeep trail previously was closed for 12 years. After many hours of volunteer work performing road maintenance with the Blue Mesa 4-Wheelers, the trail has most recently been opened for public use during the month of August, weather permitting. However, this is not the case this year.
While we understand that this may disappoint some users, we ask the public to understand that for health and safety and to maintain trail conditions this route will not be available for motorized use this year.
