Kamiah, Idaho (February 2, 2015) – Each year the Northern Region of the U.S. Forest Service hires an average of 1,500 seasonal employees who provide, collectively, more than $11 million in salaries to northern Idaho, Montana and North Dakota. Employees can gain experience in everything from trail maintenance to conservation interpretation and weeds to wildlife.

The job announcements for 2015 temporary hiring will be advertised in phases. The following are the phases and timeframes for the various positions available in the Northern Region (Region 1).
Phase 1 (COMPLETED): January 14 – 20, 2015: Includes all fire fighter and fire management positions.
Phase 2: February 3 – 9, 2015: Engineering and surveying technicians, forestry technicians, hydrologic technicians, biological science technicians, archaeological technicians, equipment operators, motor vehicle operators, laborers, and maintenance workers, recreation, wilderness, trails technicians, and animal packer positions.
Phase 3: March 3 – 9, 2015: Visitor information/guides, office services, Youth Conservation Corps aids/leaders, and other new temporary positions not filled in the first two phases.
