Evacuations/Closures: Road closures and Level 2 (advisory) evacuation for Oak Flats.
Public Meetings: Thursday, August 1 – 7 pm – Cave Junction County Building
Significant Events: The fire has spread into the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. Fire behavior was somewhat mitigated yesterday due to the stagnant air and the smoke shading the fire area. With warmer temperature and changing weather we expect more active fire behavior over the next several days. The structure protection at Oak Flat in Josephine County is nearly complete and fire fighters remain camped in the area in case they are needed.

Evacuations/Closures: Bear Camp Road is closed as well as numerous trails. The BLM portion of the Wild Section of the Rogue River is closed from Graves Creek to Mule Creek effective July 31 at 12:01 a.m. The Rogue River Trail from Grave Creek to the Rogue River Ranch is temporarily closed.
Significant Events: The Big Windy Complex consists of three fires, the largest of which is the Big Windy Fire on the south end; the Calvert Peak Fire is on the west and the Jenny Fire is on the north. Buildings and residences at risk include The Black Bar Lodge, campgrounds on the Rogue River, the Zane Grey historic cabin, and the Rogue River Ranch. The current strategy is to protect structures along the Rogue River and to use indirect fire line to contain the fire between the Rogue River, the Peavine Road system, the Bear Camp Road and a ridge located west of the Calvert Peak Fire.
