ACTION TAKEN: Effective Monday, August 27, 2011, the daily bag limit in the recreational ocean salmon seasons in the "Columbia River" Ocean Salmon Management Area (Leadbetter Point, Washington to Cape Falcon, Oregon) is adjusted to allow up to 2 Chinook salmon in the bag limit. The daily bag limit will become: 2 salmon per day, and all retained coho must have a healed adipose fin clip beginning Monday, August 27th.
RATIONALE: In the regulation setting process earlier this spring, the bag limit was set with a limitation of only one Chinook per day. This limitation was established to ensure that adequate Chinook would be available for the full season. The sampling data indicates that the “no more than one Chinook” bag limit restriction will be unnecessary given the remaining quota and the rate of Chinook catch.
