Chiwawa Road, or Forest Service Road 6200, will be closed to vehicles at the Chikamin Creek Bridge from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, until 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 15.
During the construction period, motorists will be unable to access campgrounds or trailheads on Chiwawa Road north of Chikamin Creek. National forest visitors already in the Chiwawa River area above Chikamin Creek will also be unable to travel downriver.
Forest Service managers will post information about the construction at trailheads and campgrounds along the Chiwawa River. Campgrounds affected by the construction include: Finner Creek, Riverbend, Chiwawa Horse Camp, Schaefer Creek, Atkinson Flats, Nineteen Mile, Alpine Meadows, Phelps Creek and Phelps Creek Equestrian Camp.
Chelan County Public Works managers are administering the project, which is located about six miles north of Lake Wenatchee. The agency reminds the public to use caution in the area and avoid the construction zone.
