Summary: Yesterday, interior pockets of fuel continued to burn but no new growth or interior runs were observed. The fire activity was minimal and progress was made mopping up and securing the fire’s perimeter on the northern, eastern, and southern portions of the fire. Fire suppression rehabilitation of secondary dozer lines was completed.
Today, firefighters will continue to mop-up any hot spots, secure the fire’s perimeter, and continue fire suppression rehabilitation of hand lines and dozer lines.
Please continue to be cautious as you travel along Highway 844. Firefighters will continue to be in the area working on the fire.
This is the final press release from the Arizona Central West Zone Team for this fire. Effective 6 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013, the fire’s management will transfer to a local Type 4 Incident Management Team with Greg Suszek as the Incident Commander.
