West Cuesta is a rugged, five-mile long dirt road that is used for multiple recreational activities, such as hiking, bicycling, bird watching, hunting, wildflower viewing, and photography. Volunteers will be removing litter that resulted from illegal activities such as vandalism, target shooting, abandoned campfires and dumping.
Members of the public interested in volunteering for part or all of the day should bring sturdy shoes, long-sleeve shirts, gloves, water, shovels and sunscreen and join us at the entrance of West Cuesta Ridge at the top of the Cuesta Grade off Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County on March 14 by 8:45 AM to register. Some of the work site areas are only accessible by high-clearance vehicles, and car pooling is encouraged due to limited parking.
Please see attached map for more details on parking and work sites. Please RSVP with Tanner Yould at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-4610 ext. 3 by March 13. For further information, please contact the Santa Lucia Ranger District at 805-925-9538 ext. 0.
