The Beal Mountain Mine, when operating was an open pit heap leach gold mine. It operated from 1988 through 1998 by Beal Mountain Mining Company (BMMI) (a subsidiary of Pegasus Gold Corporation). The 300 acre mine site is located in the headwaters of German Gulch, Silver Bow County, Montana, about 16 miles west southwest of Butte, Montana, and is primarily situated on National Forest System lands administered by the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The Forest Service has been conducting reclamation work at the Site since 2003 utilizing the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA) authority. All interested publics are welcome to attend.
