The culvert installation is a Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Project, or CFLRP. The goal of CFLRPs is to use cooperative, science-based ecosystem restoration techniques to improve watershed function while encouraging ecological, economic and social sustainability. CLRPs also provide local employment opportunities.
Road 286 is located seven miles southwest of Lowell and just two miles west of the historic Lookout Butte lookout. The road will be closed at Mile Post 21.3 and also at Mile Post 22.7. All vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be prohibited from being within 100 feet, on either side, of both construction sites. The closure is expected to last approximately two weeks, through August 30.
