Bough harvesting is not limited to a specific season on the North Umpqua, Cottage Grove and Diamond Lake ranger districts on the Umpqua National Forest. Permits are available by appointment from those three districts.
Boughs are primarily used in holiday decorations. “Bloom” is when the bough produces small golden buds at the end of the foliage and is highly sought after.
