The lower parking lots and boat launches at the lakes’ recreation sites—Holter Lake, Log Gulch, Devil’s Elbow, Spokane Bay, and White Sandy Campground—will be closed starting April 6 due to public safety concerns. Weekend boaters will be able to use the boat ramps at the sites. Other activities at the lake sites will not be affected by the dock installation, nor will the camping sites at Holter Lake, Log Gulch and Departure Point.
“Over the next several weeks, BLM crews will be operating heavy equipment to install the docks at the recreation sites,” said Jaime Tompkins, Supervisory Outdoor Recreation Planner with the BLM’s Butte Field Office. “During this time, we are asking for the public’s cooperation in staying clear of the boat launch areas so the operations can be completed in a safe and timely manner. We anticipate the docks to be fully installed by April 23.”
