“A Forest Service outfitting and guide needs analysis and assessment is completed prior to the issuance of new permits within the wilderness, this helps determine additional outfitting and guiding services,” said Traute Parrie, Beartooth District Ranger, “the 2013 assessment determined the need for additional outfitting services for backpacking along with new outfitting services for environmental education and day-use recreation therapy.”
Public comment is open regarding issues or concerns to the proposal providing additional backpacking, environmental education and day-use recreation therapy opportunities. New Outfitter/Guide Priority Use Permit(s) will be issued through a competitive process based on applications.
All substantive comments will be used in the development of an Environmental Analysis as required by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.
