ROSEBURG, OR – Umpqua National Forest Engineer, Kayli Barber, announced that construction of the new turning lane on Edenbower/Stewart Pkwy will limit visitor parking to the Umpqua National Forest Supervisors’ Office starting on August 9. Barber estimates that the project will be completed by the end of August.
Here are some important dates to keep in mind if you are planning to visit the Forest Service Supervisors’ Office:
- Thursday August 9 thru Sunday August 12: the construction contractor is scheduled to tear up and form the access driveway to the Forest Service parking lot onto Edenbower Road. This access will be closed until noon on Monday August 13.
- Expect heavy traffic congestion on Monday August 20 and Tuesday August 21 while Pacific Power, Century Link, Comspan, and Douglas Electric and the Construction Contractor work on switching all the utilities and the signals over from the old poles to the new poles. The traffic signal at the intersection will be turned off on August 21. Traffic control professionals will be directing traffic through the intersection. Forest engineers advise visitors to avoid travel to the Forest Service office on August 21 if possible.
