Boise, ID –A new 10 acre fire has erupted about 11 miles northwest of Featherville in Elmore County. The fire is burning actively in heavy timber. The fire is located in remote country and currently there are no structures threatened at this time.
Boise National Forest resources assigned to the fire are two helicopters with helitack personnel and water buckets, one 20 person fire crew and one engine. Three Single Engine Air Tankers and two C-130 MAFFS are dropping retardant on the fire.
Five engines are en-route and two additional fire crews have been ordered.
The fire broke out early this afternoon and initial reports indicate a vehicle fire may have been the cause.
The Forest is very dry and citizens are reminded to be extremely careful with fire while enjoying the National Forests. Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in place on the Mountain Home Ranger District. Campfires are only allowed in developed recreation facilities
