What: Wildland Fire Update
Location: Seeley Lake Ranger District, Lolo NF
Meadow Creek Fire – Firefighters from the Seeley Lake and Lincoln (Helena NF) Ranger Districts are responding to a 25 acre fire three miles east of Cooper Lake on the Seeley Lake Ranger District. The fire is lightning-caused, burning in timber and about a half-mile from the Border between the Lolo and Helena national forests.
Cause – Lightning-caused
Resources: Three helicopters are on scene and doing bucket work. Approximately 10 initial attack firefighters from both the Helena and Lolo forests are also on scene suppressing the fire. An additional four crews have been ordered, as well as two additional helicopters and tanker support.
Fire Behavior – The fire is burning in heavy timber and showed active fire behavior late today, including torching and running; the fire made a run to the north late this afternoon.
Structures – No structures are currently threatened but there are structures approximately two miles south of the fire.
Closures: No closures currently in place
