Remarks: The Bench fire was held to 220 acres and is 30 percent contained. There were additional spot fires from the Bench fire that were suppressed with the assistance of helicopters. Helicopters dropped buckets of water on it as soon as it was discovered and firefighters will continue to check on that spot and ensure it is extinguished. The Halstead fire continues to burn actively in the Vanity Lakes, and Trail Creek areas. The natural barriers on the east side of the fire are slowing up the fire’s progression. The fire is south of Red Mountain and North of Sunday Creek. The Halstead Incident Command Post and Base camp are relocating to a consolidated location two miles west of Stanley. Travelers on HWY 21 should use caution due to increased fire and heavy equipment traffic.
