SHOSHONE – Tonight around 7:00 p.m. there were multiple fires reported to South Central Idaho Interagency Dispatch Center. Reports continued to come in throughout the evening with lightning as the cause of all these fires. Multiple resources are on scene or reporting to fires around the district.
East Hollister is the largest fire at this time, estimated at approximately 500 acres with containment set for 10:00 a.m. tomorrow and control set for tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. There are 6 engines, 2 dozers, 1 air attack, 1 lead plane, 3 single engine air tankers, and 1 helicopter on scene. BLM is also being supported by the Filer, Salmon Tract, and Rock Creek Rural Fire Departments. All resources are working together to get a handle on the flames. There have been no structures reported threatened at this time, although the fire is burning towards some agriculture fields.
The Oakley Reservoir fire is estimated at 12 acres with 3 BLM engines, 1 single engine air tanker and the Oakley Rural Fire Department on scene. A contain time has been set for 11:00 p.m. tonight with a control set for 10:00 p.m. tomorrow.
Hannah’s Fork, approximately 5 miles north of the border and 16 miles east of Highway 93 is estimated at 50 acres with a containment set for tonight at 11:00 p.m. and control set for midnight. There is one engine on scene. The fire is on private land, but is threatening state land.
A fire was just reported at 9:00 p.m. off I-84, east of Heyburn. Resources are being dispatched to the fire.
