Dozer and hand line operations continue around the fire perimeter today. Large down and standing dead trees are being allowed to slowly burn into the dangerous old Snow Talon fire scar on the fire’s north edge. Firefighter safety remains top priority on the Sucker Creek Fire.
Burnout operations were initiated yesterday and will continue today on the fire’s northwest edge near the Keep Cool Creek drainage and southeast edge near Copper Creek Road. Warm, dry weather accompanied by gusty west winds will prevail again today and tomorrow, aiding crews in multiple resource objectives.
