VANCOUVER, WA – Winter conditions have arrived in higher elevation areas of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The change in seasons and accumulation of snow bring road closures and Sno-Park openings.
Winter wildlife and recreation closures are now in effect, along with other seasonal closures. Please see the Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM) for more seasonal closure, road and trail information. Forest Road 52, or Skate Creek Road, will be gated beginning Friday, Dec. 14 at 8 a.m.
Forest Road 25 was closed and gated Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the FR 99 junction at its north end and the FR 93 junction at the south end.
Other Forest Roads closed by gate for the winter season:
· FR 99 at FR 25 junction
· FR 26 at Ryan Lake
· State Route 504 at Hummocks Trailhead
· FR 83 just beyond Marble Mt. Sno-Park
As of December 1, Washington State Sno-Park passes are required at all Sno-Parks. Snow has begun to accumulate. Winter recreationists are reminded that snowmobiles are not allowed on plowed roads.

Plowing on the Wind River Highway (FR 30) will stop this year at Lone Butte Sno-Park. All Sno-Parks along Wind River Highway will be plowed this year other than Oldman Pass. Parking at Old Man Pass Sno-Park will be at the sledding hill only.
Curly Creek Road (FR 51) will not be plowed through to the Lewis River and FR 90. Plowing on FR 90 will stop again this year at Northwoods. Forest Road 83 will be plowed to Cougar and Marble Mt. Sno-Parks.
On the east side of the Mt. Adams Ranger District, the closure area for the Cascade Creek Fire will remain in effect through the winter to ensure public safety. Learn more about this closure here: http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/giffordpinchot/home/?cid=stelprdb5399769.
All Mt. Adams area Sno-Parks (including Flat Top, Snow King, Pine Side and Atkisson) will be plowed with no changes to use or parking. Please remember all wildernesses are closed to motorized use. Yakama Nation land is closed to all winter recreational use.
