Hazardous and dead trees were felled to reduce and eliminate risk within the campground area and to improve the health of the forest. As a result, there is a large amount of dead and down wood in the campground that is available to the public on a first come, first served basis.
Interested members of the public can purchase wood permits from the Mt. Pinos Ranger District Office Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The Mil Potrero Campground area will be open for wood cutting on the following dates from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM:
Saturday March 7
Saturday March 14
Saturday March 21
Saturday March 28
If you have any questions regarding wood cutting, please contact Assistant District Fire Management Officer Shane Santos or Visitor Information Specialist Rick Howell at (661) 245-3731.
