The last day the Lovell office, located at 604 East Main, will be open to the public is Monday, June 15. Beginning June 16, services such as purchasing firewood permits, visitor map sales, and general visitor information will be disrupted until Monday, June 22, when the new office is scheduled to open.
“As anyone who has moved likely knows, moving schedules don’t always align as planned,” said district ranger Dave Hogen. “We’ll do our best to keep the disruption to a minimum.”
The new office is located at 95 U.S. Highway 16/20, Greybull, WY 82426.
The ranger district will also be renamed concurrently with the office relocation to Greybull.
The Medicine Wheel Ranger District, headquartered in Lovell, and the Paintrock Ranger District, formerly headquartered in Greybull, were administratively combined in 1996, with both districts’ names combined as the Medicine Wheel / Paintrock Ranger District. For the last 19 years, employees have worked from both locations. When the new office opens, the ranger district will be known as the Medicine Wheel Ranger District with all employees working in Greybull.
An open house at the new office will be held later this summer.
For those needing immediate assistance or Bighorn National Forest information between June 16 and June 22, visitor services are available at the Powder River Ranger District office in Buffalo, telephone 307.684.7806, and the Tongue Ranger District office in Sheridan, telephone 307.674.2600.
