To ensure public safety, the following closures are in e!ect beginning immediately:
• Lolo Trail Road (Forest Road 500) from the junction of Weitas Butte Road 557 to the junction of the Liz Butte Road 560.
• Nee-Me-Poo Trail 40 from the junction of the Weitas Butte Road 557 to the junction of the Liz Butte Road 560.
The Lolo Trail Road is a primitive dirt road built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It follows the ancient Native American route over the Bitterroot Mountains. Lewis and Clark struggled over the trail in September 1805.
The smoke in our area is coming from wildfires in northern California, Oregon and Washington. Northern Idaho is receiving more smoke then central and southern Idaho.
