The original 45-day comment period has been extended for an additional 30 days. In accordance with 36 CFR 218.7, the comment period will now be open until December 16, 2015. The formal extension for this DEIS comment period is expected to be published in the Federal Register by November 13, 2015.
The purpose of this comment period is to provide an opportunity for the public to review the alternatives and provide specific and focused comments on the actions described in the alternatives and the identified effects of each alternative prior to a decision being made by the Responsible Official.
It is important that reviewers provide their comments at such times and in such a manner that they are useful to the agency’s preparation of the final environmental impact statement. Therefore, comments should be provided prior to the close of the comment period and should clearly articulate the reviewer’s concerns and comments. The submission of timely and specific comments can affect a reviewer’s ability to participate in subsequent objection period or judicial review. Comments received in response to this solicitation, including names and addresses of those who comment will be part of the public record for this proposed action. Comments submitted anonymously will be accepted and considered; however, anonymous comments will not provide the respondent with standing to participate in subsequent objection period or judicial review.
Comments may be submitted online at http://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=41517 or to Michelle Paduani, Newport-Sullivan Lake District Environmental Coordinator by mail, in person, or by phone. For more information on this project, or to get a copy of the draft Environmental Impact Statement and supporting documentation please contact Michelle Paduani at 509-447-7361 or email@example.com.
