The material would be removed from an unpatented mining claim and patented property and ultimately hauled to the Golden Sunlight Mine east of Whitehall for final processing.
Although there may be somewhat elevated levels of metals in the waste rock, the concentrations will not pose a public health issue. Following processing at Golden Sunlight’s mill, the waste material will be placed in a lined, permitted tailings facility at the Golden Sunlight Mine.
The BLM is processing the applicant’s plan of operations in accordance with federal regulations. If the operation is approved as submitted, removal would begin after Oct. 1, depending on weather and would be completed in 2015.
