On Wednesday evening a Type 2 Incident Management Team will assume command of the incident.
The Wyoming Type 3 Incident Management Team is stationed in the town of Butte Falls and assumed command of the Rustler Complex, which includes approximately 13 small fires, located about 15 miles northeast of Butte Falls in the Sky Lakes Wilderness, west of the Pacific Crest Trail.
A map of the National Creek Complex and Rustler Complex has been made available on InciWeb this evening at www.inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4450/.
Additional larger fires on the forest include the Stein Butte Fire (~15 acres), located in the Siskiyou Mountain Ranger District southeast of Applegate Lake; and the Collier Butte Fire (~30 acres), located on the Gold Beach Ranger District and within the Kalmiopsis Wilderness.
The forest is evaluating the need for area closures on some of these fires. Stay tuned to InciWeb and the forest website for updates.
Thunderstorms are expected to return this coming weekend. Fire officials will continue to prepare for additional lightning activity on very dry fuels.
