“Volunteers are needed to help clear debris and garbage out of the Shoshone River corridor running through Cody,” said Jason Burckhardt, Cody Region fisheries biologist with the Game and Fish. “This is a great opportunity to get outside and help maintain the aesthetic value of one of Cody’s most notable natural resources.”
The project area runs from the Hayden Arch Bridge to the Corbett Bridge, a stretch of about 10 miles. Several hundred pounds of refuse are expected to be cleared from the river and its banks, as well as from the Paul Stock and Shoshone Riverway trails.
Volunteers willing to help should meet at 8 a.m. at the Shoshone Riverway Access near the Belfry Bridge, where they will be assigned to one of several work crews. The cleanup should be completed by early afternoon.
Volunteers should dress in clothing appropriate for work and weather. Volunteers should bring gloves, a sack lunch, and if possible, waders.
